Frequently asked questions about counselling
How many counselling sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies enormously from person to person and depends on what you are wanting to bring to counselling. For some, 5-10 sessions may be sufficient. Others might feel they would benefit from further sessions. We can discuss this in more detail when we meet. I offer short, medium and long term counselling.
How much will it cost?
My fee for a 60 minute counselling session is £50. I accept card, cash or bank transfer.
How often will we meet?
Counselling sessions are usually weekly at the same time.
Where will my session take place?
My practice is based at the York Eco Business Centre in Clifton Moor.
What about confidentiality?
I take confidentiality very seriously. We will discuss this in further detail at your first session.
I’d like to start counselling. What happens next?
We’ll have an initial conversation on the phone which gives you the opportunity to ask any questions and decide if you’d like to work together. We’ll then make an appointment to meet in person. During our first session, we will discuss what you would like to gain from counselling and agree on an initial number of sessions.
Do you offer counselling sessions by phone or Skype?
Counselling sessions are usually face to face. Once our professional relationship has been established, it is possible to conduct session via phone or Skype if you are unable to attend the session in person.
