What is counselling?
Counselling provides a safe, non-judgemental space to explore whatever is troubling you. My aim is to support you in gaining understanding and insight, exploring different perspectives and making choices for yourself.
I recognise that every client is unique. My integrative humanistic approach enables me to tailor my approach according to you as an individual and your specific situation.
I consider my role to be alongside you, supporting you with your chosen focus. Counselling is not about me giving advice or solutions, it is about working together to enable you to identify your own way forward. I will help you identify your strengths and resources so that you can utilise these as we work together to find a way forward that works for you.
What to expect
Face to face counselling sessions take place at at my discreet office at Clifton Moor in York. During our first session, we can explore what has brought you to counselling and we will agree a focus for our work together. We’ll agree on how many sessions we will have initially and review this as the work progresses according to your needs.
I recognise the importance of the counselling relationship in the outcome of the work we do together. Therefore, I offer an initial free telephone consultation up to 20 minutes. This is an opportunity for you to ask any questions and decide if you would like to work together. If you would like to arrange to a telephone call, or you have any questions about my approach, please get in touch.
